1. Sea turtle We’ll use colored card stock that we decorate with markers to make a sea turtle’s pattered fins & shell.
3 & 4. Owl In the first class we will make an owl in air drying modeling clay. In the next class we will finish our owls in a rainbow of colors.
2. Tissue paper collage We’ll use stamps and colored ink to make patterns on tissue paper; then paste & layer our patterned paper on boards to make abstract collages.
9. Monkey chain We’ll use colored card stock and markers to make patterns on monkeys that link in a chain.
7 & 8 Clay houses In the first class we’ll use real clay to build our houses. In the next class we will paint our sculptures with real glazes that get finished (fired) in a kiln to be bright and shinny. NOTE: These pieces will come back to DDES and go home with students the next week, when we make the monkey chain.

We will use lots of materials and our imaginations to make all kinds of multi-media creations. We’ll use colored markers and oil pastels to study drawing and making patterns; we’ll use stamps and colored inks to make patterned tissue paper collages; we’ll use air drying modeling clay to make sculptures that we finish in a rainbow of colors and more...

  1. The cost of each class is eighteen dollars ($18), plus a two dollar ($2) materials fee, for each student, for a total cost of twenty dollars ($20), per student, per class. So, the total cost of a four week workshop would be 20 x 4 for a total of $80 or 20 x 8 for a total of $160 for an eight week workshop.

  2. More information on our fees.

6. Amate bark paintings We’ll use tempera paint and our imaginations to make Amate “bark” paintings on brown paper bags. (Learn more about Mexico’s Amate bark painting here. ) What kind of painting do you want to make?http://kidworldcitizen.org/2011/10/14/mexican-folk-art-amate-paintings/shapeimage_9_link_0
5. Woven paper creations We’ll learn how to weave paper and how to use stencils to help us make paper fishes. We’ll study patterns when we decorate our weavings with oil pastels. Then we’ll glue everything together to make woven art pictures.
10. Rockets Away! We’ll use recycled materials like cardboard tubes and plastic bottles to make colored paper rockets that we finish with markers, ribbons, stickies and glitter.
11. Crazy Creatures We’ll wad up newspaper to make balls that we cover with Cloud Clay in all kinds of colors. We’ll use more colored clay and googly eyes to make silly faces with all sorts of features. Because the clay is colored we don’t need to paint our sculptures!
NOTE: Students will take these Cloud Clay sculptures home the day they make them. Colored Cloud Clay air dries in 3-4 days.
