2018-2019 workshop


We’ll use real clay & glazes to make clay creations. We’ll learn about making pitch pots, coil pots, working with clay slabs and more to create pottery that we glaze in lots of bright colors. Adventures in Art will fire the pottery in a kiln and bring it back to school so students can take their finished work home. In our last class we'll use paint in a rainbow of colors to finish pre-made pottery.  (K-5)


Class day & time: Thursday • 3:00-4:00

Class dates:  Nov 8, 15, 29; Dec 6, 13, 20; Jan 10, 17, 24, 31 (no class Nov. 22, Dec 27, Jan 3)

3. Glaze Our Pottery We will glaze the pottery that we’ve made with bright, shiny colors. Adventures in Art will fire the pottery and bring it back to school the next week so students can take their finished work home.
9. Glaze Our Pottery In our third class we will finish the pottery that we’ve made with bright, shiny glazes. Adventures in Art will fire the pottery and bring it back to school the next week so students can take their pottery home.
10. Painted Pottery We’ll use acrylic paints to finish pre-made pottery (bisque), like this dragon, in a rainbow of colors.This project is for decorative use only and can go home on the day that we paint it.
7. Dog Mug We’ll make and decorate a mug with a dog face.
4. Whale We’ll make whales and put them in the ocean.
1. Dragon We’ll use our imaginations to make dragons with lots of fun features.
5 & 6. Snowman In our fifth class we’ll make holiday snowmen. In our sixth class (the class before winter break) we will paint our whales and snowmen with lots of fun colors. Our snowmen and whales can go home on the day that we paint them.
2. Monster We’ll turn pinch pots into monsters with claws, teeth and big tongues.
8. Owl Our owls will have big eyes, wings and bright breaks.

February/ March classes

4. Baby Monster We’ll use pinch pots that we turn upside down to make baby monsters with legs, arms and fun faces.
5. Panda We’ll make pottery pandas in black and white.
6. Paint our Pottery In our last class we will finish our monsters and pandas with paint in a rainbow of colors, sparkles and glitter. Our pottery can go home on the day that we paint it.
2. Rabbit We’ll turn pinch pots into rabbits with big ears, fun faces and tails.
1. Self Portrait We’ll make self portraits on clay tiles.
