We’ll use real clay & glazes to make clay creations. We’ll learn about coil pots, pinch pots, and working with slabs to create pottery that we glaze in lots of bright colors. Adventures in Art will fire the pottery in a kiln and bring it back to school so students can take their finished work home. In our last class we'll use paint in a rainbow of colors to finish pre-made pottery.  (K-5)


Day & time: Wednesday • 3:50-4:50

Class dates:  12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/20, 2/27

3. Paint Our Pottery We’ll finish our penguins and plates with paint in a rainbow of colors, sparkles and glitter. Our pottery can go home on the day we paint it.
1. Penguins We’ll make penguins and paint them.
4. Snowman Our snowmen will have hats, scarves and more.
2. Holiday plate We’ll turn clay slabs into plates that we decorate with cookie cutter shapes and bright colors.
5. Coil Pot We’ll make and decorate coil pots.
6. Glaze Our Pottery We will finish the pottery that we’ve made with bright, shiny glazes. Adventures in Art will fire the pottery and bring it back to school the next week so students can take their work home.
8. Dog Mug We’ll make and decorate a mug with a dog face.
7. Rabbit pot We’ll turn coil pots into rabbits with big ears.
9. Glaze Our Pottery We will finish the pottery that we’ve made with bright, shiny glazes. Adventures in Art will fire the pottery and bring it back to school the next week so students can take their work home.
10 & 11 Face plates We’ll drape clay slabs in paper plate molds to make plates we can decorate. Student can make any face they want; their favorite animal or maybe a flower. We’ll paint our plates in a rainbow of colors. Our plates can go home on the day that we paint them.

1. Monsters We’ll turn pinch pots into monsters with lots of fun features.
2. Elephant We’ll turn coil pots into elephants with trunks, big ears and tails.
7. Animal Plate We’ll make plates with our favorite animal.
5. Leaping Lizards! We’ll make lizards with webbed feet, scales, big eyes and curved tails.
4. Pumpkin covered jars We’ll put faces on pumpkins for Halloween.
8. People Pot We’ll turn pinch pots upside down to make people with hats.
9. Glaze Our Pottery We will finish the pottery that we’ve made with bright, shiny glazes. Adventures in Art will fire the pottery and bring it back to school the next week so students can take their work home.
10. Painted Pottery We’ll use acrylic paints to finish pre-made pottery (bisque), like this dragon, in a rainbow of colors.This project is for decorative use only and can go home on the day that we paint it.
